Chartered sport fishing excursions for striped bass & bluefish in Cape Cod Bay, Narragansett Bay, Buzzards Bay, or anywhere else.

We trailer our 28-foot custom built boat to the hottest spots in southeastern New England!

Let the crew of the Fishing Vessel MIGNIFICENT get you in on the most current action with a full-day of chartered sport fishing!  Our specialty is trolling and bait-fishing for striped bass and bluefish in the inshore waters surrounding southeastern New England.

We start our season off in mid-May when stripers start to arrive in numbers in Narragansett and Buzzards Bays.  On our charters, we’ll troll umbrella rigs or drift live pogies (menhaden) to entice these early-season fish.  Casting plugs to schools of stripers breaking on the surface can result in vicious strikes.  A few blues are starting to show up at this time as well.  We’ll generally launch out of Bristol or Barrington, RI to hit Narragansett Bay, Fairhaven, MA for access to Cuttyhunk and the Elizabeth Islands, or Wareham, MA for upper Buzzards Bay.  The fishing for stripers starts to slow down in these waters in mid-late June as the water warms.  That’s when the bluefish action really starts heating up.

By mid-late June, the stripers are moving up and around the tip of the Cape into Cape Cod Bay.  Our charter trips this time of year are mostly run in the waters off of Plymouth, MA and along the shore of Cape Cod Bay all the way out to Provincetown searching for big stripers.  When we find the fish, 15-20 pounders are common and 30+ pounders are not unusual.  Trolling is the rule this time of year.  We’ll usually pull three to five lines, but sometimes the fish are hitting so fast we can’t keep more than two lines going.  Fishing live mackerel when available can also produce outstanding results.

As we move through July and into August, the stripers can become a bit tougher to locate but the blues flow into these waters in hordes.  Huge schools of big “slammer” bluefish over 10 pounds are usually easy to find.  To access these waters, we launch from Plymouth, Sandwich, or Dennis, MA.

After the “summer doldrums” wind down in early September and water temperatures start to drop, these fish put on the feed bag in preparation for their fall migration.  The stripers start biting again in Cape Cod Bay.  The bluefish never stopped biting.  On our late summer charters, we concentrate our effort along the southern shore of the Bay.  Once again, trolling is the ticket to the action.

While stripers and blues are our specialty, we can accommodate requests for trips targeting early-season inshore cod fishing off of Boston’s south shore or tautog in Buzzards Bay, summer scup, fluke, and sea bass in and around Buzzards Bay, or late-season sea bass, tautog, and cod off of Block Island.  Let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
